If you and your friend are being chased by a tiger...

If you and your friend are being chased by a tiger, you don't have to outrun the tiger…..you only have to outrun your friend!

The same applies to your home security. As long as you have adequate security in place your chances of being burgled will be minimal, but leave it to chance and sooner or later the inevitable will happen.

These days our homes are filled with fantastic technology - DVD Players, Computers, Surround sound stereos etc. Homes with beautiful heirlooms and mementos adorning our living spaces. We are so lucky to be able to accumulate so much wealth but it shocks me that people are prepared to put all of this at risk by not installing a security system to protect their hard earned valuables from those poor unfortunate souls that prey on the rest of us in order to satisfy their own needs. All too often there is very little or no security in homes risking tens of thousands of dollars in contents.

The typical burglar doesn't care whether it is your home, my home, or the next door neighbour's home as long as it is easy to get into. But you can take your self out of that "easy" category if you plan your security well to provide comprehensive protection of your home. A security package that will suit your floor plan, your location, your lifestyle and thereby leave no possibility for you to experience that dreadful moment when you return home to find the front door ajar and….

At Argus Home Security Solutions we recommend a comprehensive security system that covers all bases, a security system that allows protection while we are in the home as well as protecting our possessions while we are away. A good security package will take into account the house layout, its proximity on the block and the blocks around it, the lifestyle of the residents, and the contents of the home. This sort of security requires coordination between locks, security doors, alarms, safes, roller shutters etc.

There is now a disturbing trend for burglaries while people are in the home! So the first step in your security package is good perimeter security. Security doors, window grilles, roller shutters, deadlocks and window locks individually and collectively provide good perimeter security. Good perimeter security will deter the opportunity thief, not only while you are in the house, but to also make entry difficult while you are away from the home. Most homes will need a combination of perimeter security products, depending on location and situation.

Alarm systems are the best way to protect your home while you are out of the house, once combined with your perimeter security, easy entry is removed and the threat of alarm noise makes your home an unattractive target. Who knows what response will follow an alarm? The burglar doesn't. SO he will look for an easier target nearby. Perhaps someone who isn't quite as prepared as you. Depending on your floor plan, your alarm system will also allow you to have partial coverage of your premises at night.

For your most valuable and most treasured possessions a safe is a must. It is the simplest and most convenient way of storage while maintaining easy access. Good quality safes can be purchased from only a few hundred dollars and once bolted down they will provide excellent protection for papers, jewellery, cameras, video cameras, cash etc.

The implementation of a complete security package will give you peace of mind in the knowledge that when you come home, there will be no nasty surprises awaiting you, and all of the things that you have worked so hard for will still be there, as you left them.

It just seems like common sense to me.
